Friction|non|Friction is thrilled to announce that we will be working with ro*co films educational to start hosting documentary film events in PDX in order to bring amazing, independent, important films straight to you. Social films. Political films. Films dealing with hard-hitting issues … the same issues which inspired the creation of Friction|non|Friction. We can now take the discussion off the page, and into the screening room. Let’s watch together and have lively discussions afterwards.
We’re aiming to bring you films like TRAPPED: “Trapped follows clinic workers and lawyers who are on the front lines of the battle to keep abortion safe and legal for millions of American women.”
And SOLD: Based on true stories, SOLD is the story of Lakshmi who journeys from a pastoral, rural village in Nepal to a gritty brothel/prison called Happiness House in Kolkata, India.
And a movie I’ve wanted to watch with a group and discuss for years now – Life 2.0: “An intimate, character-based drama about people who look to a virtual world in search of something they are missing in their real lives. The results are unexpected and often disturbing: reshaping relationships, identities, and ultimately the very notion of reality.”
We look forward to starting conversations in the PDX community. Best of all, part of our admission fee will benefit local non-profits or groups who are helping to make a difference!
We’re just getting the ball rolling, but can’t wait to start offering these amazing evenings to you, your friends and families. Please stay tuned!
